Labour Party members in Pudsey select candidate to take over from Paul Truswell MP
At a selection meeting in Pudsey today Labour members voted for Jamie Hanley as their new Prospective Parliamentary Candidate following the retirement of Paul Truswell MP.
Jamie said:
"I feel very honoured and privileged the Labour members have put their faith in me to represent them at the next General Election.
"I have spent many weeks speaking to Labour members in Pudsey, Horsforth, Farsley and Calverley about their concerns, issues and vision for the future of our communities.
"They, like the wider community want to see support for our economy in difficult times, continued investment in our front line services and free personal care at home for those with high needs.
"It's clear that here in Pudsey, the election will be a straight fight between Labour and the Tories.
"Locally people know that the Tory/Lib Dem council is a shambles.
"Nationally too it is increasingly clear that the Tories lack credibility, for example on their unfunded plans for a giant inheritance tax cut for millionaires, and their unfunded changes to marriage tax allowances that would give the wealthiest, thirteen times as much as those on lower incomes."
